You might find where some people state that it doesn't work, that it hardly spins or that it can't even move a piece of paper that you might place in front of it when checking airflow. To those reviews, I state that they did not perform proper placement as placement is the key. My wood-burning stove is an insert to my fireplace and I have my fan located on one of the sides, a few inches from the front and angled a few degrees to the center. The fan takes advantage of temperature differentials, meaning that it needs cooler air as well as hot. Thus, place the fan on the side and not dead center. My particular fan starts spinning (albeit slowly) when the stove's at a surface temp of about 100 degrees F. Spins faster as the stove temp increases. It's very quiet and is designed to move air in a wide dispersion (vs. a more narrow field, like you might get with a high-speed, 120V fan). I like it.
